Industrial Relations Policy

Industrial Unions

Industrial unions have the function of representing people that may be vulnerable as individuals. They maintain a balance between powerful corporations and individual workers. Our stance is that the purpose of unions is essential and valuable.

Penalty Rates

Workers should choose undesirable shifts for incentives such as penalty rates and never agree to work shifts under duress. Penalty rates are an essential standardised incentive.

It is extreme ignorance and poor understanding of business to assume a reduction of minimum wages and conditions will increase service or product delivery.

Prosecute Wage Theft

A Democratic Party of Queensland government will establish a Queensland Police Service taskforce with powers to investigate and prosecute wage theft without relying on workers to progress a complaint.

Freedom to Form Industrial Unions

A Democratic Party of Queensland (DPQ) government will not restrict the establishment of industrial unions and will repeal statutes that constrain the formation of industrial organisations.
